Mother Dessie B. Foster

Mother Dessie Foster was born January 17, 1927 to Mack Thomas, Sr. and Ola Mae (Robert) Rogers of Nashville, Tennessee. She transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest on Friday, April 22, 2016 in her home surrounded by family members.

Mother Foster was educated in the Nashville Public school system In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford Foster; siblings, Mary Jane Hendricks, Marie Thomas, William (Willie) Atkins, John Thomas and Maxie Lee Thomas.

Survived by her five devoted children, daughters, Gloria (Clifton) Douglas, Fort Washington, MD., Shirley (William) Head, Nashville, TN., Darrmita (Ardail) Henry, Nashville, TN; sons, Clifford E. (Vera) Foster, Douglasville, GA. and Don (Lisa) Foster, Dayton, OH; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren & great great grandchildren; sisters, Beatrice Devaughn of Jacksonville FL. and Annie Lois Thomas of Louisville, GA; devoted brother, Guy (Bobby) Atkins; brothers, Henry Albert Thomas of Louisville, GA., Walter (Lottie Mae) Thomas, Sr., Freddie (Rose Marie) Thomas of Bartow, GA, Mack (Malinda) Thomas, Jr. of Statesboro, GA; aunts, Kathleen Campbell, Nashville, TN and Tiny Ree Heggs, Jacksonville, FL; devoted cousin, Robert (Dooley) Milton, Nashville, TN; and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 3-7 pm at Highland Hills Funeral Home, 2422 Brick Church Pike, Nashville, TN.

Visitation Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 11am-12 noon with A Celebration of Life Service to follow at Meharry Boulevard Church of God, 1212 Meharry Boulevard with Elder Richard Lloyd, eulogist.
Interment, Middle TN State Veterans Cemetery, Pegram, TN.
