Doris J. Bratton

Doris Jean (Kimble) Bratton was the fourth of twelve children born to the late Robert R. Kimble and Mattie (Haynes) Kimble on July 17, 1935 in Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Esley Wardell Bratton whom she was united in marriage for 64 years. Doris died peacefully in her home after a long illness.

She professed her hope and love of Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church.

Doris was a loving mother and grandmother, who loved family gatherings, keeping up with her favorite sports team; Braves baseball, football, playing “5 up” and Bid whiz. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.

She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her children, Esley Bratton, III, Deborah Bratton Hubbert, and Chester Kimble; grandkids, Ashley Hubbert, Kendra Randel, and Chaz Kimble; sisters, Geraldine (Oscar) Terry, Julia (Wesley) Hemphill and Mary Groves; brother, Chester Kimble; cousin, Ivadell Bratton; devoted niece, Barbara Jobe; honorary aunt, M.J. Hyatt and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Broken Chain
We little knew that day, God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide. And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
