Pastor Grant Stevenson, Iii

February 14, 1937 — October 10, 2017

Age 80, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

His life was the amplitude of God's goodness. He was a leader: chosen and made usable by God through brokenness, tragedies and triumphs. He was a man of commitment and positive influence. He has gone the distance, leading and instructing God's people with honor, uninhibited integrity, encouragement and Godly love.

Pastor Grant Stevenson was an only child born in Nashville, Tennessean on February 14, 1937 to Grant Stevenson II and Katherine Short. He was introduced to holiness by a friend in 1956 and later accepted an invitation to attend King's Temple Church of God in Christ.

In God's preparing young Grant for ministry, he saved and sanctified him that same year at a tent revival where the late Bishop J. O. Patterson Sr. was preaching the Word of God. He was filled with the Holy Ghost in September 1959, and shortly thereafter, accepted his call to ministry.

On December 20, 1958 he was united in holy matrimony with Ms. Christine Riley. In 1970, Pastor Stevenson was called to lead the Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ in Allgood, Tennessee. In addition, he built a new sanctuary in Livingston, Tennessee where he then became the shepherd of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ.

Leading two congregations was an awesome assignment for which God equipped Pastor Stevenson to fulfill. He worked and served faithfully in this capacity until the Lord directed his Jurisdictional Prelate, the Bishop Audley King to send him to Clarksville, Tennessee as the newly appointed Pastor of Greater Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. The Lord worked there miraculously through his ministry for the next 15 years.

In 1989, God lead and inspired Pastor Stevenson to found Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ of Nashville, Tennessee. Many souls we saved, and filled with the Holy Ghost through Pastor Stevenson's ministry. Pastor Stevenson's life was a sermon encompassing his many humble attributes.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Mother Christine Riley Stevenson; seven children, Grant Stevenson (preceded him in death), Mary Stevenson Creech, Katherine Joy (Reginald) Perkins, Michael Stevenson, Eric (Andrea) Stevenson, Sedric Stevenson and Jonathan (Sharhonda) Stevenson; grandchildren, James Cane, David Cane, Christine Cane, Crissy Stevenson, Michael Stevenson, Arica Love, Ariel Love, Mikayla Cunningham, Taylor Stevenson, Sedric Stevenson Jr., Parker Nicole Stevenson, Caleb Stevenson, Eric Stevenson II, Ajriana Stevenson and Tyrus Vaughn; great grandchildren, Angel Beard, Alyssa Stevenson, Serenity Lee, Brooklyn Williams, Jenaé Love, Prince Stevenson, and Promise Stevenson; devoted cousin,Yvonne Woodley; devoted friends, Pastor Robert Williams, Pastor Eddie Whitelaw, Pastor Louis Caldwell (deceased), Pastor David Coleman (deceased); numerous other relatives and friends.
