Reflections

Josephine (Jo) Davis will be remembered for her radiant smile and infectious laugh. The Lord called his precious daughter home on June 1, 2017 after a brief illness.

Jo was a woman of great faith and she professed her belief in God at an early age. As a Nashville native, Jo attended Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church as a young adult. Later in life, Jo welcomed opportunities to attend church with her family at Bradley Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Jo gracefully fulfilled many roles; she was a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, granny, gran gran, and friend. Jo had a special love and concern for all of those that shared in her life. Family and friends appreciated Jo’s courageous spirit and straight forward approach to life. It was no secret that Jo had a keen sense of fashion and flare that was also admired by many.

Jo was educated in the Nashville public school system and later had the unique distinction of attending Meharry during the time in which Meharry housed a school of Nursing program. Professionally, Jo worked as a nurse for Vanderbilt Hospital for over 40 years. Jo trained many nurses and was well respected among the nursing and physician staff; Jo leaves behind a legacy of dedicated and faithful service.

Jo’s love and laughter filled memories will be remembered by her son, Michael T. Davis, daughter, Pamela A (Billy G.) Lillie, son, Randall A. Davis; her sisters: Marro Martin, Juanita Miller, and Izola (Rick) Davidson; grandchildren: Latischa & MatischaDavis, Alan (D’Andrea) Lillie, Tamra (Vontae Ashford) Lillie, and Candace Ezell; great grandchildren: Izaiah Lillie, Jazmyne Lillie, Jalan Lillie, Arnessia Wake, Mia Ashford, and Demarion Ezell; nieces and nephews: Oscar Martin, Diane (Dwight) Gregory, Robert (Diane) Martin, Howard Miller, Clarance (Boopy) Miller, Janice Miller, Tina (Jerry) Davidson, Sandra Putnam-Broadway, and a host of great grand nieces and nephews. Many other relatives and close family friends.
