Obituary
Ms. Martha Jewell Parks was born on February 9, 1946 to Mr. Leroy Gustus and the late Ms. Jessie Lee White in Fayetteville, Tennessee. Her final journey home to the kingdom of heaven came on December 21, 2015. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Elizabeth Parks; and sister, Ms. Letha Ann White.

Martha gave her life to Christ at an early age, and was a devoted child of our Lord Jesus Christ. She also later studied Jehovah Witness way of life. Through her life’s journeys, Martha was a very devoted and loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and loyal friend, who was loved by everyone she met. Her laughter was melodic and genuine, and she always had an uplifting message for you. And after she had fed your mind with encouragement, love and direction, she always had something quick and delicious to feed your stomach and soul.

She received her education in the Lincoln County Public Schools in Fayetteville. She later moved to Nashville where she built a career working at Fisk University for numerous years, and later in her pursuit of better opportunities and higher goals she took employment with Tennessee State University (TSU) in Nashville. She retired from TSU in 2014.

Martha was united in holy matrimony to Horace Parks. Martha loved her family. She was a giving, thoughtful, and loving person. She had a heart of GOLD.

She leaves to cherish her memory, yet celebrate her life, her father, Leroy (Edna) Gustus; one son, Antonio Travis; three daughters, Beverly (Arthur) Perry, Kimberly Parks (Eddie Brown), and Bronzetta Parks; sisters, Norma (David) Yonker, Regina (Mark) O’Neal, Jeanette Williams, and Renae Gustus; brothers, Floyd White, and Nathan Gustus; devoted niece and nephew, Michelle and Robert Davis; aunts, Jane W.
