Pearlie Mae Jackson

November 25, 1932 — April 28, 2017

Age 84, of Nashville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Friday, April 28, 2017.
A Time To Be Born

Mrs. Pearlie Mae Jackson was the daughter of the the late, George E. Smith and Celestia Smith. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on November 25, 1932. She received her education in the public schools of Nashville-Davidson County, Tennessee: The time period of her birth and early up-bringing in America was a very difficult time for (Negroes) Blacks and that era out come would eventually lead to the America Civil Rights Movement……

Pearlie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized by her grandfather, Reverend Morris M. Gordon, and in fellowship with the congregation of Great Hebrew Missionary Baptist Church. Pearlie at an early time in her life bonded herself to the word of God that unified her in Holy Matrimony to John Obie Jackson and Reverend Gordon performed the official duties of their ceremony: Their marriage was (Only disrupted by the October 29, 1993 death of John O. Jackson) blessed with three sons and two daughters. As an Army wife, Pearlie committed herself to the complexities of raising her children while John did two combat tours of duty in the Republic of Vietnam, as well as other Army non-combat training that required John to be away from home. Pearlie was truly real Mother-Father in the tempestuous eras of the 1960’s and 1970’s. And near the end of her life span. She was joyful to witness the great power of the Holy God. That took Jews and Gentiles to bend the arc of justice, to lift up a Black man into the office of President Of The United States.

And A Tine To Die

Pearlie yield up her soul and spirit in death, thus fulfilling the Holy Words of her God and our God to mankind “Genesis 3:19….Till you return the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” She is with the ages now, and in faith she's waits to be raised in the resurrection at the last day by the Lord Jesus: Mighty God and Resurrector. Pearlie is preceded in death by: George E. Smith and Celestia Smith (parents). John O. Jackson (husband), Ronald E. Jackson (Son), Marie Swanky (Sister), and Delores Vaughn (Sister). She leaves to remember and mourn her earthly visit, Katherine Harris (Sister), and her children, Patricia Harris, John Jackson, Jr., Michael (Denise) Jackson, and Shelia Greg) Stewart. She has a host of grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Psalm 18: 6

In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: He heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, into his ears.
