BROOKS, Barbara F., 74, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Sunday September 20, 2020, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

A native of Tullahoma, TN, born on November 5, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ruth Johnson. In the early 1970s, Barbara completed nursing school, graduating with an Associate's degree, and went on to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She was employed for many years at Harton Memorial Hospital and the Mental Health Center. Later in life, Barbara changed vocations and attained a position as an Engineering Associate at Arnold Engineering Center at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. Later she became a programmer with the Missile and Rockets group. She remained there for over 32 years until her retirement. During that time, she also obtained her B.A. from Trevecca Nazarene University, while working full-time and serving in full-time ministry.

Mrs. Brooks was active member, in the late 1970’s, at Atlantic Temple Church of God in Christ (COGIC) in Tullahoma, TN. In the early 1980’s, she and her husband, Elder B.J. Brooks, were appointed to The House of Prayer COGIC in Decherd, TN. There she planted her faith and continued in the work of the ministry serving not only the local church but also serving in many leadership roles and positions at the district, jurisdictional and national levels, included her appointment as Assistant State Supervisor of Women within the COGIC organization.

Pastor B.J. and Lady Barbara Brooks established Path of Life Ministries in 2004 in Murfreesboro, TN. Her spirit of love and giving extended to Rutherford County community and its surrounding areas. For several years she committed herself to provide meals to area youth through their Summer Food Service Program.

The loves of her life were her family. As the Matriarch, she was the glue to maintaining a loving family relationship. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ruth Johnson and grandson, Nicholas Brooks.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joys of her life. Mrs.
Brooks is survived by her husband of 56 years, Pastor Billy J. Brooks; daughters: Ruth Kilcrease
of Smyrna, TN; Roxanne (Cedric) Seay of Tullahoma, TN and son Billy F. Brooks of Las Vegas, NV; siblings: Gail Harlan, Warren Randolph, Tony Randolph, and Arleen Miller; seven grandchildren: Travis (Calais) Beasley, Anthony Hobson, Bria Kilcrease, Summer Brooks, Desiree Seay, Demetrius Seay, and Andrea Seay; great-grand-children: Kyla R Hill, Nicholas Hooker, Braxton Hobson; brothers/sisters in law and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., followed by the funeral services at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2020, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Tullahoma, TN. Burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
