Beverly Kaye Ridley

November 10, 1956 — March 14, 2016

Beverly Kaye Ridley, age 59, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016. Beverly was born November 10, 1956 in Sheffield, Alabama to (Daddy) and Ollie B Jones Horton. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ollie B Jones Horton; her sister, Brigitte Horton; grandparents, Robert and Harriet Nash Horton, Sam B. Jones, Mary Harris, and Walter Patterson.

Early in her childhood, Beverly’s family moved to Lima, Ohio. After graduating from Lima High School, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she began undergraduate studies at David Lipscomb College and obtained a degree in Accounting from Nashville State Community College. She began working for AT&T and retired in 2007, after 30 years of service. She later joined the Comcast team in 2008, where she flourished and remained committed until the end.
On January 7, 2001, Beverly became a member of the Schrader Lane Church of Christ, where she remained a faithful member until her death. She served in the Evangelism Ministry and sang in the Adult Chorus. She also worked with the Girl Scout Troop and Ramsey Street Church of Christ.

Beverly was a very loving, caring angel. Through her work in the Evangelism Ministry at Schrader Lane, she spread the Word of God and brought people to Christ. She was a great cook who served meals that fed both the body and soul. She was active in the community through the United School Workers organization that worked to raise funds for Southwestern Christian College. Beverly was a beautiful instrument and songbird for the Lord. She was a songwriter, vocalist, recording artist, and guitarist who loved singing with her beloved group, The Voices of Faith. Her father-in-law often said “That girl can sing.” She composed several songs; but her favorite was “Lord Hear My Battle Cry”. “Eyes of Desire,” “Not in Love but in Lust,” and “Heart on Hold” were among her favorites as well. She truly loved her husband, children and grandchildren and was faithful in caring for her brother, Kenny Ray.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband, James A. Ridley, Jr., of Goodlettsville, TN; daughters, Jessica (Chris) Redding and Jacqueline Ridley; eleven grandchildren; sisters, Wanda King, Patsy Anderson, Roberta (Emmanual) Burch, Tolandao Horton, and Karen (Brian) Brasher; brothers, Kenneth Horton, and Michael Lewis; aunts, Myrtle Goins, Lorene (Curtis) Anderson, Corene Horton, and Carol Wiggins; beloved stepmother, Patricia (Alvin) Bulls; aunts and uncles, George (Louise) Horton, Larry (Barbara) Horton; great-uncle, Walter Jones; great aunt, Carolyn Batiste; parents-in-law, James A. and Jessie M. Ridley; sisters-in-law, Mar Reese, Betty Russell, and Jewel McCadden; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Ridley, Michael Ridley, and Trent Ridley, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many caring friends.

Beverly, you were the perfect mate for me. You provided balance in my life. I am honored the Lord chose me to provide, care for, and protect His daughter. It was my privilege to honor, serve, protect and love such a beautiful vessel. God said that when we are absent from this body we are present with him. I know you are with Him now, and I look forward to holding your hand once and again and praising God together.
Love you Babe! Your loving husband James
