Claude S. Armstrong

January 16, 1939 — June 6, 2014

Claude Samuel Armstrong, Jr. was born on January 16th, 1939. He was called home to eternal rest, Friday, June 6th, 2014 at the age of 75. Claude, better known "Sonny," was eldest child of seven born to the late Claude Armstrong, Sr. and late Daphne Wilson Armstrong. He was also preceded in death by sister, Sheila Roberts.

Sonny adored his only child, Claude Armstrong, III "Buddy," who was equally dedicated to his father. They were referred to as "Da and Boy." The two were truly inseparable!!!!

As a child Sonny attended Meharry Blvd. Church of God. He was a 1957 Pearl High Tiger graduate. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Army. Upon leaving the military, Sonny was employed by Metropolitan Public Schools where he worked side by side with is best friend, his dad! Afterwards Sonny worked for Nashville Electric Service. Later, he became self-employed.

Sonny was dedicated to his mother and father, and made sure their care was priority. He loved his brothers and sisters dearly, willingly contributing to their education and other needs. They all stuck together through thick and thin.

Although Sonny was quiet, he did occasionally surprise us with a "talking spurt." Fishing and listening to jazz music were some of his pastimes, while creating furniture masterpieces was his all-time favourite, referring to himself as "The Craftsman," when constructing his own furniture.

Claude Armstrong, Sr., leaves to cherish his memories, loving son, Claude S. Armstrong, III; brothers, Calvin (Vivian) and James (Virginia) Armstrong, of Nashville, TN.; sisters, Dr. Sherry Armstrong and Sandra Humphrey of Nashville, TN, Mamie Saunders, of Houston, TX; cousin, Kenneth (Freda) Fraizer, of Mt. Juliet, TN.; a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one great great niece, as well as, cousins.
