Donald Reuben Moody

Mr. Donald Reuben Moody, age 58 transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.

Donald R. Moody was born on November 4, 1961 in Detroit, Michigan to George and Georgetta Moody. He was the fifth of eight children.

Donald R. Moody graduated from Detroit Northern High School. He attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee where he was Captain of the Tennessee State University Tiger Sharks Swimming Team and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Through his career of competitive athletics, he held school, city, university and national championship records. Donald enjoyed participating in competitive and philanthropic sporting events such as the Music City Marathon, the Jack and Back Bike Tour which supports the National MS Society, the Cedars of Lebanon State Park Triathlon, as well as the Muddy Buddy which supports the Challenged Athletes Foundation. Donald also participated in the historically acclaimed Selma to Montgomery Bike Ride where he crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March. Not only was Donald a nationally recognized endurance athlete he also enjoyed tennis, fishing, racket ball, motorcycling and a fond appreciation of the American Bulldog. Through his cycling tours he began to document his visits to the State of Tennessee’s beautiful dams, national parks, and historic monuments. Donald had a career as a Maintenance Technician at Nissan North America, Incorporated in Smyrna, Tennessee. He accepted Christ at Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

Donald was a member of the Leroy Dues Swim Club, the Detroit Swim Club, the Potenza Cycling Club, the Domestiques Cycling Club, and other athletic organizations.

Donald Moody leaves to mourn his absence his siblings, Beverly Stringer, George A., John S. (Janet), Miriam C. (Paul) Satterwhite, Scott D., Karen A., Cleo M. and special friends Derica Dunn Baker, Manuel Dukes, and Arthur Martin; host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
