Everette Musgrave Sr.

November 28, 1959 — November 29, 2021

Everette Musgrave Sr., a native of Brownsville, Tennessee, was born November 28, 1959, the fifth of nine children born to his parents John Henry and Annie Margaret Musgrave.
Everette accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Willow Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Brownsville, Tennessee and was current member of his beloved Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee.

He attended Haywood County Public Schools and graduated from Haywood High School with the class of 1978. He attended Tennessee State University and Trevecca Nazarene College on basketball scholarships. He was employed by Dialysis Clinic Inc for 30 plus years.

Everette was a phenomenal basketball player and if you talked to him long enough you heard about it – not bragging just stating facts. He played football briefly as a child and in his own words, no one could stop him.

He fell in love with basketball and credits Coach Danny Perry with teaching him how to be a team player. As a starting basketball player during his high school sophomore season, he averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game and that year the Jackson Sun nicknamed him “Super Sophomore”. In 1978 he was honored as a St. Petersburg Times All American and was nominated for the McDonald’s All American team. In 1993 he was inducted into the Brownsville States Graphic Hall of Fame. A true Legend. Illness prevented Everette from reaching his full potential in sports.

He married his high school sweetheart Patricia Watkins on July 7, 1979 and they kept the covenant of marriage until his passing on November 29, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Annie Margaret Musgrave; paternal grandparents John and Birdia Jackson; maternal grandparents Abel and Ollie Mae Ray; sister Sharon Tyus; brothers Melvin and Glenn Allen Musgrave; father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward and Hattie Watkins; brother-in-law Mozell Byars; sister-in-law Alita Watkins.
