James Tommy Johnson

James Tommy Johnson, age 58 of Goodlettsville, TN passed away on April 29, 2022. Johnson known to his family as “T-Bone and Gigalo” was born on April 26, 1964 to Julius Milton Johnson and Delores Costello Harris Johnson at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana. James was the 7 th born of the 7 children.

He attended West Side High School in Gary Indiana and two years of college. He was employed in the field of Construction Projects, Truck Driver and Custodial Supervisor.

On April 17, 2017, James was united in holy matrimony to Deborah Jean Reffegee until death parted them.
James upbringing was in the faith of Jehovah Witness, he believes in the hope of a resurrection. James took to heart the promise found in the bible “no more sickness and death”.

In his spare time James was involved with the Buffalo Soldiers. They go out to help people in need.
James is preceded in death by his great grandmother, Carrie Viola Harris; grandparents, John Johnson and Rosie B. Taylor; maternal grandparents, Percy Harris and Alice Vaughn; parents, Julius Milton Johnson and Delores Costello Johnson; two brothers, Julius Milton Johnson, Jr. and Ronald Van Johnson; two nephews, Kemo Johnson and Mychael Marshall.

He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy, devoted wife, Deborah Jean Johnson; two children, James Tommy Johnson, Jr., and Slena Johnson; five loving sisters, Johnnie Mae (James) Montgomery, Alicia Ann (Leonard) Carson, Sylvia Delores Johnson, Annretta (Wayne) Giron, Desirai Moore; uncle, Walter (Annie) Harris; four brothers-in-law, Charley Reffegee, Michael (Delores) Reffegee, Larry Reffegee, Melvin (Lucy) Robinson; seven sisters-in-law, Dorothy Reffegee, Janice Reffegee, Shirley Thompson, Ernestine (Mansfield) Ellis, Sharon (Quincy) Summers, Karen (Kenneth) Walker. James has a host of devoted nieces, nephews, grandchildren and close friends, Carl “Jazzman” Little, Peter Nunn and Bill Island.

James memory and his smile will live on in the lives of those he was able to touch through his kindness and outgoing personality. Special thanks to the Buffaloe Soldiers, the doctors, nurses and dialysis team who helped James throughout the years.
