Jeffery Clyde Phillips

Jeffery Clyde Phillips affectionately known as” Fats” was born May 4, 1957, to the union of Clyde and Loretta Phillips in Nashville, TN. Jeffery Phillips obtained his education in the Davidson County Metropolitan school systems. He graduated from McGavock High School. He retired from the Davidson County School Metropolitan Transportation Department.


Jeffery Clyde Phillips met his soul mate Michelle Murray Phillips at the Tennessean. His covenant in marriage with his best friend and faithful wife of 32 years began July 21, 1989. Their union of love created 1 son and 3 daughters with a host of grandchildren. His family was the rhythm of his heartbeat. . . whom he loved dearly.


Jeffery accepted the Lord as his personal Lord and Savior. He developed a passion for scripture discussions and listening to old traditional Christian songs as he matured in Christ. He enjoyed cooking, loving on his family, and much laughter. His hobby of breeding Chihuahuas gave him much peace. Jeff loved sitting on the banks fishing.


Jeffery Phillips departed this earth after a brief illness on
September 3, 2021. Preceding him in death, his parents Clyde and Loretta Phillips. Jeffery “Fats” leaves to cherish his memory and continue family traditions: Justin Murray, Matthew Phillips, Rachael (Charod)Talley, Ariel Phillips, Mariah (Jacole)Jones, and a host of grandchildren. Jeffery has two other sons who live out of state Sean Campbell and Travis McFarland. Jeffery’s siblings will always remember the number “9”, including “Fats” although he has gone home. Maurice (Donzaleigh) Phillips, Angela Phillips, Timothy (Karynthia)Phillips, Michelle (Greg) Doster, Marilyn Phillips, Gerry Phillips, Darrell (Connie) Phillips, and Pastor Llewellyn (Danielle) Phillips. Jeffery has a host of loving and dedicated nieces, nephews, and friends to join in pondering the life of their cousin, uncle and buddy.


The family knows the ties that bind are not broken . . . “memories will hold them together as they journey this life with the hope to also live in eternity with God.”
