Life’s Reflections
Karen Denise Lawrence was born February 10, 1960 to Reuben H. & Gertrude Coleman Lawrence in Nashville, Tennessee. Life’s span was exhausted and God’s Will was done Friday, February 26, 2021. Karen fought a good fight and she kept the faith. She was preceded in death by her long- time companion; Harry “Randy” Garrett; goddaughter, Mileah Quarles, her grandparents and her two loving pet dogs, Pookie and Fuzz.

Karen professed hope in Christ at an early age at First Baptist South Inglewood under the pastorate of Rev. T.E. Sweeney and later Rev. Henry K. Smith where she spent her youth and sang in the choir at South Inglewood. Later in life she re-dedicated her life to Christ at Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Howard Jones was the Shepherd. Karen in her later years would join Ebenezer Community Church under the leadership of Rev. Granville Sonny Lyons. Karen loved the Lord and His people. No matter where she chose to serve she did so with a spirit filled heart. She was truly a servant for the Lord. She used all the gifts that God blessed her with to enhance her Church home. She loved working for the Lord and His people by doing whatever was needed.

Karen was educated in the Davidson County Public School System. She graduated from Maplewood High School in 1978. She attended Tennessee State University and Nashville Tech where she majored in Accounting.

Karen was employed by CNA as a Senior Worker’s Compensation Adjuster for 20 years. Later she would open and own Thrifty Threads Ladies Consignment Shop. Her shop was widely successful due to Karen’s effervescent and magnetic personality. She never met a stranger. Anyone that came in the shop would always leave smiling and would make Thrifty Threads a frequent sight to shop and just to have a special visit with Karen.
Karen had a great many hobbies. She was very creative. Karen’s favorite hobbies would include gardening, decorating, fishing and sewing. She was a highly talented seamstress. Karen was also considered an amazing and knowledgeable wedding planner. Karen loved playing the piano and singing and even attempted playing the guitar with hopes of forming a band.
