Layvonne Marie Howard

La’Yvonne Marie Howard (Bonnie) passed on Saturday, December 17, 2022. She was born on October 30, 1950, in Nashville, TN to the late Odessa Cardwell and raised by the late Nannie Lucille Cardwell. Bonnie graduated from Cameron High School.

Bonnie accepted Christ at a young age at Lawrence Ave. Church of Christ. Bonnie married Charles Lee Howard Sr. on August 1, 1965. She and her husband Charles had five sons, and over the years opened their home to several foster children.

Bonnie was an articulate and a multi-talented woman, who endeavored in many businesses. After 25 years of working as a security guard at the Kroger warehouse, she and her husband ran many businesses including a restaurant, janitorial, Simply Silk Flowers, and Nana’s and Papa’s childcare to name a few. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing and encouraged others to start their own business.

Bonnie also used her talents to serve in the church as a Sunday school teacher, encouraging young ladies to live a Christian life, and was instrumental in bringing many souls to Christ.

La’Yvonne is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Charles Lee Howard, Sr. Together they had five sons, Charles Jr. (Tisha), Michael (Tommi), André (Leona), Carlos, and Richard (Dedrick); six grandchildren, Justice Lee Howard (deceased), Kamiyla Howard, Xavier Howard, Charles Howard III, Patience Howard and Paris Howard. She also leaves to mourn, four brothers, Stanley, James, Nathaniel, and Reggie Allen; devoted sister-in-law, Barbara Howard-Vanlier and brother-in-law, Warner Howard; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends
