Leslie Lee Vaughn

February 6, 1938 — November 23, 2021

Leslie Lee Vaughn was born February 6, 1938 to Elmou Lillian Vaughn of Gallatin, TN. He departed this life on November 23, 2021. He is preceded in death by both parents, his sister Mattie Lou Hall and son Michael Vaughn.

Leslie received his formal education from the Sumner County public school where he was a 1957 graduate.

Leslie moved from Gallatin in the early 60s and began his employment at Cumming Sign Company first as a custodian then as an electrician by trade. He continued employment there until he retired.

Around 1966 Leslie gave his life to church. He first became a member of Spiritual Temple #2 under the leadership of Bishop Beech. He remained a member there for a couple years before joining Universal United House of Prayer under the leadership of Bishop Silvanus Givens where he remained a member for over 20+ years. Later in life he became a member of Key Stewart United Methodist Church in Gallatin, TN and remained an active member until his health began to fail.

Leslie was a man of few words upon meeting but was very funny once you got to know him. Known by all that knew him, as an avid sports fan. Leslie liked just about all sports except golf (too slow & quiet). During his high school years, he was a powerful tackle for Union High an as an adult, he played for Cumming Signs Company Softball team for years. He and his sons were often at odds about football and basketball teams and players alike. He loved the Tennessee Titans and made sure everyone knew it.

Les’ passion for sports only paled in comparison to his love for singing. He was a member of various gospel groups and choirs. Some of the early groups included The Sons and Daughters of Nashville, Dan Hall and the Hall Harmonizer while he was a member of the Worldwide Quartet Convention. His last stop in spreading the gospel through song was being a member of both Key- Stewart United Methodist Church Mass as well as Men’s Chorus. During his time away from church, it was nothing unusual to hear Otis Clay or his all-time favorite quartet The Soul Stirrers featuring Sam Cooke playing on repeat.

To cherish his memories, Leslie leaves his loving aunt Corrine (Carlton) Sadler of Gallatin; devoted brother, Frank W. (Euna) Vaughn of Nashville; children: Patricia Jenkins and Ronnie Jackson of Evansville, Indiana; Lore Mitchell; Loletia Osborne; Frankie (Vince) Barbee, Tomekia Vaughn; Leslie (Dee) Vaughn and Joshua Vaughn all of Nashville, TN 30 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; close cousins Harriet Rogers, Shawn Garrett, Dianna Sadler, Sylvia Spann, and Nachole Robb all of Gallatin; special friends Queen Esther, Jesse Beard, Barbara Howell all of Nashville, TN. A host of beloved cousins and friends and his extended church family at Key Stewart United Methodist Church.
