Marie Page Nunley Ennis

January 12, 1928 — June 30, 2022

Marie Page Nunley was from Hickman County, Tennessee. She was born January 12, 1928 to parents Arthur Nunley and Inez Gordon. Marie had five siblings; Gertrude, Audrey, Bernice, Arthur T and Paul. She had two nephews, four nieces, and generations of cousins and other family members.


Marie attended and graduated from Haynes High School in Nashville. She studied her nursing training at Tennessee State University, then earned her degree from Belmont University, receiving her Board of Nursing Certificate as a Registered Nurse. Marie worked for Dr. Binkley and at Meharry Hospital. She continued her nursing duties at Baptist Hospital for 27 years. After she retired she did some additional work at Assisted Living and visited the sick and shut in.


Marie married Joe Ennis and into that union they had four children. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe, son Phil, Son Joseph and an additional cousin Charles E. Davis. She leaves to cherish her memories; daughter Sharon, son David, five grandchildren; Velvet Sowell, Mario Sowell, D'uan Ennis, Precious "Marie" Ennis and Joseph "Lincoln" Ennis, five great-grandchildren; Britney Sowell, Sharaia Sowell, Marianna Branch, Brinae Ennis and Torrian Ennis.


Marie Ennis enjoyed traveling to Arrow Rock, Fort Cooper, Centerville, Martin Tn., Connecticut, Rochester New York, Europe and the Virgin Islands. She also enjoyed reading the newspaper, crossword puzzles, riddles, scrabble, sudoku and watching  her favorite Tv show Wheel of Fortune. Marie loved to cook , baking her famous desserts but most of all she loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made up a special day called "Great-grandchildren's Day"!


Marie Ennis was devoted Christian. Her devotion of faith and to God was unmatched. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ at Schrader Lane where she was rewarded an In Appreciation for Outstanding Christian Service Plaque. Marie helped many of family members, friends and others in her lifetime. Her demeanor and drive was so contagious to many people. A beautiful heart and soul that will truly be missed.
