Mary Jenette Foster Armstrong was born January 16,1934 to the late Charles L. Foster and Carrie O. Foster. She is a 1951 graduate of Tennessee Valley High School in Hillsboro, Alabama. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Madison Armstrong.

Mary Armstrong was self-employed, she operated North Side Venetian Blind Shop with our father. She also owned Armstrong’s Family Day Care. Additionally, she worked at Donelson Hospital where she retired after sixteen years of service.

Sister Armstrong was a faithful servant of the Schrader Lane Church of Christ for 45+ years where she was a member of the LACE Ministry and the Ladies’ Sunday School Class.

Mama, Ms. Mary, Mae, Mae baby, as she was so affectionately known loved to cook, more than that she never wanted to see anyone hungry. There was never a time that anyone that came to her home wasn’t offered something to eat. Even as her health declined, she was concerned about the visitors having something to eat when they came by. She would always part her wisdom and knowledge (whether you wanted to hear it or not). She always shared how important it was to have Christ in your life. Mama was a lover of fashion and hats!
