Mattie Jean Davis was born on June 13, 1947 in Fayette, Alabama to the union of Abraham Lincoln Cannon and Gertrude Wilson Cannon. She entered peacefully into rest on Monday, May 10, 2021 at her home .


Mattie enjoyed cooking, reading, growing her plants and loving her family and numerous grandbabies.


She was a loving mother, sister, and friend to all those who lives she touched. She is and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents Abraham and Gertrude Cannon, her brothers John Cannon of New Mexico and Tim Douglas of Nashville. Also Abraham Lincoln Cannon Jr. of Tuscaloosa and granddaughter Christina Cannon, also of Nashville.


She leaves to cherish her memories her loving children: Anthony Davis, Donnell Davis, John Wayne Davis and Timothy Tyrone Davis.


She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren: Olivia Davis, Cody Davis, Jadan Davis, Justin Davis, Sade' Bass, Perez Bass, Timothy Bass, Antonio Bass. And an even greater host of great grandchildren.
Silblings include: Henrietta Cannon, Rosemary Douglas, David Douglas, Jeff Douglas, Abraham Lincoln Cannon Jr, Johnny Cannon, Charles Cannon; nieces and nephew, Judy Ann Cannon, Tabitha Whitman, and Stephen Cannon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
