Preston Leon Taylor

Mr. Preston Leon Taylor, Age 88 transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Friday, November 20, 2020.
The fifth oldest of seven children, Preston Leon Taylor was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on Feb. 11, 1932, to Willa Overton and Foshin Taylor. He was raised in Nashville, Tennessee, which he made his home, until peacefully entering into eternal life on November 20, 2020, at age 88.
Preston received his early education in the Nashville public school system, and was a 1950 graduate of Haynes High School. He obtained a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Tennessee A & I State University (A & I) in 1956, and, after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1962, he went on to obtain a master's degree in agriculture, also from A & I. He was a proud member of the Phi Beta Sigma college fraternity.
Preston was subsequently hired by the Nashville public school system, where he dutifully served for 30 years, as both a teacher and an administrator. He retired in 1992.
Preston would be later called to the ministry, gave his trial sermon in 1996 at his home-church since early adulthood, St. Peter AME, then attended the American Baptist College.
A loyal friend and a devoted family-man, Preston was married to his beloved wife of 59 years, Florence B, who preceded him in death in December 2019. Indeed, he will be forever remembered and sorely missed by all his loved ones -- especially for his lively story-telling, and passion for traveling, adventure, and sports. He leaves to cherish his memory: his two devoted daughters: Brenda Singleton and Tanya Williams; devoted grandsons: Michael Taylor, Justin Jolly-Singleton, Bryan, Turahn, Stephen (Tiffany), and Christopher Williams; devoted great-grandchildren: Michael Jr., Ahnecia, Ahmyah, Bryan, Jacob, Xavier, Xialin, Cameron, and Noah, great-great grandson: Carter; sister: Bessie Lee; sisters-in-law: Mattie Octavia Dunston; Barbara Jean (Roy) Alexander; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation December 12th 10:30am-12:00 noon with funeral to follow at Highland Hills, 2422 Brick Church Pk.
