Sadie Mae Franks

Mrs. Sadie Mae Franks, age 88 transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Thursday, November 19, 2020.

Sadie Mae affectionately known as “Doll”, a childhood nickname given to her parents, was born on May 6, 1932 to Joe D. and Rita (Thompson) Gibbons both who proceeded her in death, along with her siblings Moses Gibbons (Mildred), Franklin Delano Gibbons (Rose), Claudia, (Gilbert) Exann Delores Terrell, (Willie,) Joe Gibbons II, (Ethel) and Ethel Gibbons.

Doll was educated in the Louisville, GA school system and graduated from Jefferson County Highschool. As a child and adolescent, she was a member of Hardeman Baptist Church where she loved Sunday School and singing in the choir. After high school, Doll met and married Roy Franks of Macon, GA (pre-deceased) and moved to New York in 1955. She then worked in the hospitality industry as a supervisor until her retirement in 1994. She then moved to Nashville, TN in 1995.

In 1997, Doll became a member of Shiloh M.B. Church which she was a very dedicated and loyal member. She joined the Mother Board and served faithfully until God called her home. She also was a member of the willing workers which visited the convalescent. Doll also served in the Kingdom Kitchen that provided hot meals to the homeless community.

Doll loved doing word puzzles, playing board games, watching tv games show and soap operas. She was a master champion of board games. Doll loved traveling. She also loved spending a lot of her free time doing work in her community, helping her friends and neighbors.

Doll will be deeply missed. She was a wonderful storyteller and had a great sense of humor. She did not hesitate to express how she felt. Doll was fun, generous, and very compassionate. She had a big heart and always willing to share. There will never be another Sweet Sadie. She was truly one of a kind and we were so blessed to have her in our lives.
Doll leaves to cherish devoted brother in-law Willie (Exann) Terrell, a large host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She also leaves behind good friends Mabel Elliott, Shirley Patton, Claude Thomas, and Mother Clara Page; adopted nieces, Mother Ewanda Collier, Brenda Covington, and Evangelist Karen Clemons, and Tina Dunlap.
