Sandra Ann Thomas

Age 66, of Nashville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Sunday, March 28, 2021.


Sandra Ann Thomas, a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother was called on Sunday, March 28th, 2021 into eternal rest by her father in Christ. Sandra was born October 13th, 1954 to the late John Horace Hughes and Susie Lee (Holt) Hughes.


She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Horace Hughes, Donald Edward Hughes; and grandson, Lamar Hughes.


Sandra graduated from John Overton High School. She enjoyed cooking and continued her passion for cooking in food service for over 40 years. She worked at Trevecca Towers, Tennessee State University, West End Retirement Home and Metro Schools where she retired from in 2017.


She was a long- time member at Tabernacle Glory until she moved her membership to Westwood Baptist Church where she faithly served as a host. She loved God, she lived life, she smiled, she laughed and positively impacted the lives around her. All while displaying God's strength and that loving smile, she would keep pressing on in the midst of her pain and she never gave up.


Those who will forever cherish her precious memories are her loving and devoted daughters, Chatonya Hughes, Michelle Hughes and Shanelle Hughes; 7 devoted grandchildren, Keith Hughes, Micheal Hughes, Shantell Shelton, Anthony Hughes, Floyd Hughes, Michelrica Hughes, Raychell Hughes and Lebrandon Moore; 7 great grandchildren and niece, LaTasha McDonald and nephew, Donald E. Hughes, Jr; siblings, Helen McKnight of San Antonio, Tx., Michael Hughes (Jackie) of Nashville, TN., Carl Hughes (Carol) of Nashville, TN and Carol Hughes Walton, of Nashville, TN; aunt and namesake, Sandra Fields; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
