Velma was preceded in death by her sons, Thomas and Orlando Pennington; sisters, Mattie Prince, Annie Dee Summers, Delores Jones, Fannie Mae Chambers, Mary Margaret Smith, and Geraldine Wilson; brothers, Clarence Jr., Robert, Reverend Frank, and Marshall Turner; great grandson, Robert Pillow.

She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter-in-law, Mary Pennington; stepsons, James Edward & Bill Claude Gleaves; grandson, Darryl Pennington; granddaughters, Sharon Pillow, Trina Frierson, Lisa (Craig) Taylor, and Tiffany Pennington; great grandchildren, Raven and Robert Pennington, Dashe and Darryl Thompson, Brittney & Dominigue Taylor, Fred Pillow, Keith Frierson, Shonte (Michael) Teeters; numerous great great grandchildren; devoted nephews, Austin Smith and Alvin Wilson; special friends, Yvette Etter, Linda Bailey, and Jeanetta Tucker; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
