Deacon Arthur Lee Boyd

May 31, 1946 — September 10, 2023

For we know that if our earthly house this tabernacle were dissolved. We have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  (II Corinthians 5:1)

 

Arthur Lee Boyd born May 31, 191946 in Nashville, Tennessee the second child to the late Robert Lee Boyd, Sr. and Marcella Kelly (Boyd) Bowers.  He departed this life September 10, 2023.

Arthur was educated in Davidson County Public Schools, He attended Haynes and Pearl High Schools.

Arthur accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 7 years old as his Lord and Savior.  He was baptized in White Creek and united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of Reverend William Gregory.  As he grew he was dedicated in the service of the Lord.   While at New Hope he served as Deacon, singing with the Male Chorus, Teacher of the Adult Sunday School Class, and Van Driver for many years.   But God saw fit to move him and unite him with St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church under the Leadership of Elder James Glenn Duke.  There he served as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher of Adult Class, and Trustee.  He served with the Deacons and Laymans of the Cumberland Primitive Baptist Association and served as Treasure.

He was faithful and dedicated until his health began to fail.  One of his favorite Scripture (John 1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

He served in the U.S. Army for 16 years, while serving in Vietnam he was awarded the Bronze Star.  He had the opportunity to travel all over the world.

He was self eself-employedmployed for many years before working with Metro Board of Education for12 years before his retirement.  He loved meeting and caring for people, He loved his Pastor and the St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church Family.

He was preceded in death by father, Robert Lee Boyd, Sr., mother, Marcella Kelly (Boyd) Bowers, stepfather, Esker Bowers, brothers, Robert, Thomas and Samuel Boyd. 

He leaves to cherish his memory, loving children sons, Derrick (Michelle) Plummer and Antwan (Yashika) Waller; daughters, Michelle Bolling and Nikisha Greene; a devoted and loving sister and Brother-in-law, Faye and Will (James) Finney; grandchildren, Derrick Ferguson, Deandre Ferguson, Derricka Davis, Sheketa Plummer, Deovion Waller, Dearria Waller, Miracle Hall, Antwan Waller Hall, Jr., Kamari Waller Hall, Curtis, Aniya, De’Andre and Chozynn Greene, Jayden Bennett, and Jaques Rogers; 14 Great grandchildren; devoted and loving cousin, Ann Ferby; devoted nieces, nephews and cousins; devoted friends, Mother Peggy Scruggs, Deborah Scruggs, Kassandra Shirley, Steven Menifee, Terrance D. Patton, Deacon Don Black, James Rose, Margaret Ieronimo and Tom Gober.
