Gary Wilson was born February 17, 1948 to the parents of Willie Jones and Geneva Elliott. He was the oldest to four siblings. He transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Vanderbilt Medical Center, in Nashville TN.

Gary attended Trigg County Public School in Cadiz Kentucky. He had a love for his country and wanted to enlist in the military, but due to a heart murmur he was not allowed to serve. He dedicated years of work at Bruce Lumber. Here he worked until he was hurt. Gary was a very loved person and a pleasure to be around. You could look forward to seeing a smile on his face, especially if he was fishing or golfing.

He moved to Nashville, TN and met the love of his life Theresa Bedford-Wilson. They married May 10, 2014 and raised a blended family of four: Michael Sawyers, Jermaine Sawyers, Latetia Sawyers and Latora Bedford. The Wilson family joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Frank Stevenson. Here they were active members until their health declined.

He was preceded in death by father Willie Jones, mother, Geneva Elliott, sister Vickie Crump, wife Theresa Wilson and grandson Shamar Cantrell.

He leaves to cherish his memories: stepson Michael Sawyers, devoted stepson Jermaine Sawyers, stepdaughters Latetia Sawyers and Latora Bedford, sister Gail Wilson, brother William (Lisa) Elliott, family in laws brothers Larry Sawyers, Joseph (Shirley) Johnson, Warren (Kara) Sawyers, Marvin (Alethia) Jones and Levi (Shanell) Harris, sisters-in-law Rose Sawyers, Glenda (George) Dunlap, Traci (Samuel) Sloss, Linda (Gary) Phelps, Thelma Pinkerton, devoted sisters-in-law Sandra Britten and Ramona (George) Douglas, a host of of nieces, nephews cousins, family and friends.
