Gayal Senious Johnson

Gayal S. Johnson was born on September 27, 1956 in Nashville, Tennessee to Carolyn and Harry L. Allen. She departed this life on January 7, 2024 in Franklin Tennessee.

 Gayal accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized at Schrader Lane Church of Christ. Gayal served as a Sunday school teacher for a few years. She also enjoyed singing in the Adult Chorus.

Gayal was educated in the Metro Nashville Public schools. She graduated from East Nashville high in 1974. Gayal continued her education at Tennessee State University where she received her B.S. Degree and later Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She also spent a semester abroad studying Spanish in Bogota Columbia.

Gayal began her teaching career as an assistant teacher at the Kennedy Center at Vanderbilt on the George Peabody campus.

In 1979, Gayal began working for Metro Nashville Public Schools as a Speech Therapist, were she remained until she retired after 35 years.

Gayal also work as an assistant activities coordinator at the Knowles Home

Gayal loved to travel. Her travels took her to Europe, South America, several Caribbean islands, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii.

 Gayal collected Barbie Dolls and loved meeting with fellow Barbie collector friends

Gayal was preceded by her parents, Carolyn and Harry Allen

Gayal leaves to cherish her memory Harry(Teresa) Allen, brother; Dona Allen, sister; Devoted cousin, Wendy Taylor; nephews, Leon and Noah Allen; niece, Elise Cuaresma and family all of Hawaii; cousins Gloria Lewis, Princine Lewis, Denise Ward, Diane Hughes of Detroit, Michigan; devoted friends Christine Reed, Melvin Corlew, Cynthia Harvey, Tasneem Ahmed, and Constance Braden. A host of other family and friends.
