Johnnie Mae Wright Moore

September 19, 1951 — June 12, 2024

Nashville

JOHNNIE MAE WRIGHT MOORE was born September 19,1951 to the late Phillip Wright, Sr. and our beloved Matriarch Essie Moore. She departed this life June 12, 2024 at age 72. She was educated in the Metro Public School System, and was an exceptional student. Her strong will and independence lead her to become a trailblazer, as exemplified by her becoming the first Black Cheerleader at North High School. Later she matriculated from Tennessee State University, obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in only three years.

Johnnie was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ at and early age. She later was baptized into Christ at the Schrader Lane Church of Christ under the Pastorate of Dr. David Jones. She loved the Lord and was grateful that the Lord loved and cared for her throughout her life’s’ journey.

Johnnie was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Edward Moore and to this union two daughters were born Kimberlee Moore and Ashlee Moore. After returning to work Johnnie’s career path was in Business Administration where she successfully worked with the Colorado Power Utility until returning to Tennessee.

Johnnie has several hobbies reading, cooking, but anybody who really knew her, knew she loved to play cards and “talk trash”! Which was very important if you were going to

Whoop-up on your opponent!! She didn’t want to just beat them, she wanted to defeat them, so she had bragging rights for the next time. All in good clean fun!!

Johnnie loved her family dearly, and loved to cook for them, until her health failed. Johnnie fought a good fight against COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). She was preceded in death by her older brothers Spencer James and Charles Edward Wright.

She leaves to cherish her memory: devoted daughters; Kimberlee Moore, Ashlee (Johnny) Metilor, bonus daughter Monique Fleming, Colorado Springs, CO granddaughters ;Jasmine Moore, Winsdai Metilor of Nashville, TN., Victoria (Dajuannette) Black, Colorado Springs, CO., grandsons; Avanya Moore Nashville, TN, Quidman and Quinndel Fleming Colorado Springs, CO; mother; Matriarch Essie Wright (102.9 years of age) her only sister and in-house caregiver Barbara Wright, brothers; Phillip Jr. (Claudia), Caldwell (Delores), Bobby (Katherine) all of Nashville, TN. Lorenzo (Joan) Wright Decatur, GA.; devoted nephew Spencer E. (Ngozi Sherry) Rollins. A beautiful host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
