Madie Ann Hicks

March 12, 1945 — April 3, 2024

Nashville

Madie Ann Hicks, age 79 transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Madie Ann Ferby Talley Hicks (Ann) was born on March 12, 1945, in Nashville, TN, the second child of the late Lucille Ferby (Ross) and the only child of the late Arthur R. Kelly. She made her transition on April 3, 2024 and was preceded in death by sisters Marion and Mary Wordlaw and Mamie Craig; brothers Alfonzo Ferby and Michael Wordlaw.

Ann professed her life to Christ at an early age and united with the New Hope Baptist Church, Sulpher Creek where she was baptized. As a young adult, God led her to King Solomon Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Morgan Babb. Ann served at King Solomon for over fifty years as a committed member of the Willing Workers’ Ministry. In her senior years and at God’s direction she united with the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III. There she was a faithful member until her health failed and at God’s final move was taken home to live eternally with Him.

Ann was educated in the Metro-Davidson County Public School System. She was employed by Nashville Gas Company in the late seventies. After more than 30 years of employment and continued service, Ann chose to retire from Nashville/Piedmont Natural Gas Company.

Ann’s greatest love and joy was God and Jesus Christ, followed by her family, friends and traveling. She loved and found great joy in helping and supporting the needy...oftentimes giving all she had to so very many and leaving little or nothing for herself. She was a light that shone brightly on everyone she met. Ann became a mother to many, leaving no one feeling unloved.

She leaves to cherish her memories her three loving children Felethia Ferby-Crutcher, Thymes (Sharon) Ferby, Rosetta M. Ferby; devoted siblings, Norma (John) Henry and David Lee (Beverly) Ferby; Grandchildren, Michael, D’Andre (Mariah), Brianah and Brandi Ferby; Four great-grandchildren; Devoted nieces, LaQuetta (Lamont) Bell, Sheleetha and Tonya Ferby, Erica (Deandra) Furline; Devoted cousin/sister, Faye (Will) Finney; Bonus children Tracy, Monroe Talley, Jr, Monique (Walter) Williams; Devoted friends, Doris Gilbert, Doris Wade, Betty Babb, Donzleigh Weatherford and Edna Davenport; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
