Morgan Leigh Harris

March 1, 1983 — January 16, 2024

Nashville

Morgan Leigh Harris was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, on March 1, 1983. At age 3, Morgan came with her sister, Alexis C. Harris, to live in the adoptive home of Forrest E. and Jacqueline B. Harris. Morgan unexpectedly transitioned from this life on January 16, 2024. Morgan graduated from Nashville’s Hillsboro High School and attended Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, and Strayer University. Morgan was baptized into the Christian faith by her father, Forrest E. Harris, Sr., who was the pastor of Nashville’s Pleasant Green Baptist Church. A bright, glowing smile was Morgan's signature personality trait. Morgan’s way of self-determination, pressing forward against failures, never allowed her disappointments to diminish her broad smile and a sense of pride, overcoming the struggles of life. Her last place of employment was as a Housing Specialist with Woodbine Community Organization. Most recently, Morgan was excited about a recent promotion to Housing Specialist, helping low-income people navigate affordable homeownership and rental readiness.

Morgan is mourned by her loving family, including parents Forrest and Jacqueline Harris; sisters Kara (Guido) Jackson, children Miles and Mariah, Alexis C. Harris; brother Forrest Elliott (Lisa) Harris, Jr., children Tarryn, Forrest, III; Uncles Melvin (Cheynne), Frank, Clark (Laurena), and Stanley Harris (Memphis); Aunts Collette Carpenter (New York) and Donna Brown (Indiana), Sharon Taska (Nashville), Ethelyn Jordan, Barabara Grafenreed, Edith Brown, Sharon Yarborough (Memphis), and an extended family circle of cousins and relatives.

The life of Morgan Leigh Harris will be celebrated on January 26, 2024, at Highland Hills Funeral Home, 2422 Brick Church Pike, Nashville, Tennessee. Family visitation is at 11:00 am, and the celebration service is at 12pm.
