Shirley Lea Conner, age 81, of Nashville, Tennessee was born July 19, 1942, in Redwood, Mississippi to Bennie and Sarah Sanders. She gained her Heavenly wings on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
She served faithfully at Lourdes Hospital until her retirement in 1998. Upon moving to Nashville, Tennessee, she continued her benevolent service as a Home Health Technician. Shirley became a member of Trinity Lane Church of Christ, then later joined Inner City Church of Christ where she continued to serve until her transition.
Shirley loved singing and would joyfully praise GOD with all her heart. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and found much satisfaction in spending time with them. Shirley also loved water aerobics, bowling, and walking and stayed in shape by continuously doing all three.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Doris Ann Tyler, her grandson Andre’us Taylor, her parents, Bennie Franklin Sanders and Sarah Elizabeth Patterson Sanders, and two sisters, Odessa Savannah Fisher and Julia Sanders.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Tyler (Harold) Goins, Nashville, TN, Dr. Brenda Tyler, Stonecrest, GA, Sarah Conner (Jeffery) Gill, Madison, TN; one son, Robert Tyler, Nashville, TN; eleven grandchildren, Dequisha (William) McKnight, Tanya (Haison) Fields, Jason Wright, Destini (Kenneth) Hendren, Cortney (Kierra) Prather, Celeste Jones, Cameron Prather, Denzel Jones, Tyler (Daveion) Page, Titus (Raelynn) Prather, Trinity Tyler; fifteen great grandchildren, William McKnight Jr, Chi’Andrea Taylor, Andre’us Taylor Jr., Ja’Shea McKnight, Ca’Leiah Gaines, Kennedi Prather, Kerrigan Prather, Benjamin McKnight, Cortney Prather Jr., Aamilah Duncan, Colin Prather, Korbin Pemberton, Judah McKnight, Blessing Wright, Uriah Prather; three sisters, Thelma Elizabeth Booker, Washington, PA; Ardenia (J.W.) Cleary, West Paducah, KY; Tressie Lea (Richard) Sanders-Turner, Redwood, MS; three brothers, Bennie (Yvonne) Sanders, Jr., Del Rio, TX, Robert Lee Sanders, Redwood, MS and Eddie Lee Sanders, Paducah, KY; one uncle, Cleveland White, Cleveland, MS; one brother-in-law, Edward Fisher, Jr., Redwood, MS; Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
