Thomas Cecil Russell Sr. passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2022, at his home in Nashville, TN., at the age of 78. Thomas was the son of the late Joseph D. Norman Sr. and Jessie Mai Martin. Thomas was born October 29, 1943, in Nashville, TN. the oldest of nine children. Pig, as he was affectionately known, attended Cameron HS. Graduating the class of ’63 and later attended the Tennessee A & I College.
Thomas accepted Christ at an early age. He attended St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Galilee Baptist Church. For many years he was employed at Sky Chef (American Airlines). Thomas loved playing and watching golf, playing cards, traveling on bus trips to the casino, he was an avid Steeler Football fan, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Thomas was blessed with a large loving family. Thomas married Cheryl Thompson in 1969 and to this union, three wonderful children were born.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Joseph Norman Jr. and Charles Norman; sister, Shirley Fae Norman; granddaughter, Kemiah Brown and devoted cousin, Carolyn Dailey.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memories: brothers, John Edward Lee-Norman, Frank Norman, and Booker Martin Jr; sisters, Alice Elliott and Wanda Simpson; children, Thomas (LaCretia) Russell, Schanty Russell, Rosalyn (Keith) Brown Jr., Antonio Whitfield, Tina Clark, Yvette Thompson, and Felicia Patterson-Fregene; grandchildren, Cetashaya (Bam-Bam), Deshaundra, Aniah, Keith III, and Kyier; great-grandchildren, Karmen, Kinslee, and Paris; aunts, Stella (James) Russell and Annie C. (Richard) Russell; devoted cousins, Juanita (Henry) Duff, WC Coleman, Cheryl Cheryl, Ruthie, Harry Duff and a host of, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Thomas was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
